Abstract
Computer security plays a crucial role in protecting users' data, and cryptographic techniques are commonly used for this purpose. Encryption is a method employed to ensure data confidentiality, whether it is stored on hard drives or transferred through various media. RC4 (Rivest Cipher 4) is a cryptographic algorithm that utilizes the same key for both encryption and decryption processes. It falls under the category of stream ciphers, which are widely utilized in numerous protocols due to their flexibility and speed. RC4 employs XOR (exclusive OR) function to implement its encryption and decryption steps. In this paper, a technique known as Double Reverse (DR) has been introduced to enhance the security of RC4 by making it more complex and challenging for attackers to break. The DR method involves reversing each bit of the key-stream and shifting the elements of the array entirely. Additionally, the paper covers the fundamental concepts of Cryptography, Cryptanalysis, Symmetric key cryptography, Asymmetric key cryptography, and the mechanism of RC4.
