The Difference Between 2D and 3D Finite Element Analysis of Flexible Pavement Structure
Abstract
The typical pavement systems found in transit and roads. This construction combines high-grade granular materials known as the base and subbase with surface asphalt concrete. The traffic load is carried through these layers to the subgrade, or existing ground below. The purpose of this work is to review the literature on the effects of heat, strain, stress, and crack propagation on various pavement layers. Two forms of flexible pavement simulation were distinguished in this paper: 2D and 3D modeling.
